Internet Thinking Hats
Thinking is one of the most influential tasks that we can do to forward our business. Communication between interested parties of these ideas shares the number one podium spot for activities that will help create a business into a success. Internet marketing is no different and the creative thoughts that we come up with to forward the business objectives are vital to our web sites success.
Very often we find that we have a communication breakdown internally before we even formulate our thoughts into definite ideas and if we do eventually get these thoughts out of the construction zone we struggle to place a frame of reference or scaffolding around these ideas so that others can climb around and see what the idea really is all about; with out them dismissing it as another grey concrete building.
I have been reading Edward De Bonos book the six thinking hats. I have read only up to the second hat which is the red thinking hat. His approach is interesting as he has taken our thought process and broken it down into manageable areas where we can focus our thoughts. One of his main premise is that our minds are too busy to be able to think of every thing all at once and that if we breakdown our thought processes into smaller demarcated tasks we are more likely to manage a particular wing of our idea building.
He then carries this idea into the communication arena where he gives structure to the way in which we communicate our ideas with others. De Bono has limited idea sharing to a facet of that idea, then moving onto the next facet until we have all walked around the building together looking at the structure or idea from each angle.
Here is a list of the different angles the De Bono suggests we break our thoughts into and he has demarcated these areas by the use of hats thinking hats.
